Rodent-Proofing Your Home Before Winter

Tufan Pest Control 18 April 2026 5 min read

Rodents don't disappear in winter — they move indoors. Sealing the gaps they use and removing easy food is the most effective long-term defence.

Find the entry points

A mouse can fit through a gap the width of a pen; a rat needs only a 20-cent-coin-sized hole. Check around pipes, weep holes, roof eaves, garage doors and where utilities enter the house.

Remove the invitation

Store pet food and pantry staples in sealed containers, keep bins closed, and clear vegetation and clutter away from the walls of the house where rodents like to shelter.

When to call us

Scratching in the ceiling, droppings in the pantry or gnaw marks on cables mean an active infestation. We combine proofing with safe baiting and trapping so the problem is solved — and stays solved.
